    Process and Studies Director

    Job description

    Overview / Responsibilities

    Amec Foster Wheeler is currently recruiting for a Process and Studies Director with extensive experience in the mining and minerals processing industry.

    • Accountable to develop, maintain and improve the Process team
    • Ensure that the appropriate people are recruited, retained and developed within the Process Group and optimally utilized to achieve best practices
    • Accountable to lead and communicate to the strategic management of the organization
    • Accountable to contribute to the Amec Foster Wheeler Management Team to ensure the development of integrated management systems and practices for the organization and provide the frame and context for the Process Group and to give feedback and recognition for direct reports
    • Accountable to develop and retain the relevant competencies within the Process Group to secure and maintain competitive advantage
    • Manage the Process Group to ensure that a good quality product is delivered on time and in accordance with budget parameters
    • Accountable to develop and retain the relevant competencies within the Process Group to secure and maintain competitive advantage

    • To ensure that the organizations strategic objectives are communicated and translated
    • To develop and implement systems which coordinate people and resources to carry out chosen practices
    • Ensure that quality Process Engineering service is delivered to Studies and projects. Ensure that existing projects are optimally and efficiently conducted, but also assists in securing and retaining future projects
    • Manage the Process Group to ensure that all process practices and systems are reviewed and continuously improved and optimized in order to continuously deliver a high quality product at low costs
    • Manage the delivery of studies, in alignment with Amec Foster Wheeler’s organisational objectives, client requirements and best practice systems and processes
    • To work in a safe manner, comply with and actively contributing to Amec Foster Wheeler’s Health, Safety and Environmental policies, manuals and procedures. At all times considering the health, safety and welfare of fellow workers, visitors, clients, community and the environment
    • To manage quality of proposals and guide strategy with respect to each proposal to ensure best chance of winning work

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Metallurgy
    • A minimum of 15 years’ experience on process projects in a management role
    • ECSA registered as Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng
    • Leadership position held
    • Commissioning experience
    • Ability to engage in systems design and implementation
    • Management Leadership ability
    • An understanding of strategic and change management and an ability to translate this understanding into appropriate action
    • Capacity to scope improvements in practices and design and implement systems within a 1 to 2 year time frame
    • A good knowledge of the core business
    • A good understanding of the commercial thrust of the business
    • Capacity to improve and refine practices and systems within the process division in order to meet organization objectives
    • Understanding of study phases, functions, deliverables, objectives and estimating practices
    • Understanding of relevant work practices and procedures
    • Capacity to scope and implement improvement ins such systems and practices where appropriate
    • An understanding of matrix management and the process of resource planning
    • Appropriate team membership behavior at management level and team leadership behavior within the studies group A high level of written and verbal communication skills
