    General Manager - Data Sciences

    Job description

    Main purpose:

    This role exists to be the head of our Data Science Team within WNS SA, which includes the Management Information, Business Intelligence and Analytics teams in SA.

    Key responsibilities:

    • Solutioning
      • Identifying, defining, analysing and documenting client requirements
      • Organising, translating, specifying and modeling client requirements into solutions
      • Documenting client requirements in a Project Plan specifying risk & return/benefit
      • Ensure requirements are validated, verified and scope approved by the client & stakeholders
      • Key Performance Indicators or Key milestones are agreed, tracked and shared
    • Project Delivery
      • End-to-end management and delivery of the project plan:
      • Data validating and analysis
      • Validating requirements and analysis models via reviews, walk-throughs, user acceptance testing (UAT)
      • Risk Management & Mitigation Plans
      • Ensure an AGILE approach is embedded
    • Stakeholder Management
      • Performs a liaison function between clients, internal stakeholders and Data Scientists
      • Supports the communication and delivery of requirements with relevant stakeholders
      • Strategic Imperatives

    Qualifications required:

    • Matric/ Grade 12 Certificate
    • An Advanced degree or equivalent in a relevant field such as Machine Learning, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Math, Informatics or other similar fields
    • Master of Business Administration (MBA) would be advantageous

    Experience, knowledge, skills and attributes required:

    • Solid hands on experience with a number of following data manipulation tools: Hadoop, Python, R, Impala, Hive along with SQL/SAS
    • Expertise of using classical statistical methods (such as Logistic Regression, Decision Trees) in commercial environment.
    • 2 years’ experience in heading up Data Science function within a BPO would be advantageous
    • Experience in technology related data with analytics, to drive business growth and manage risk in the business
    • Experience with Business Analysis Tools:
    • Visio or any other Enterprise Architecture software

    Requirement
