Job Summary

The Red Hat Sales team is looking for a Cloud Solutions Architect to join us in Johannesburg, South Africa, covering the East African (EA) region. In this role, you will serve as a subject matter expert for Red Hat's cloud and advanced infrastructure solutions, supporting the Sales team while creating possibilities, solving problems, and establishing working relationships with our customers. You'll discover and analyze customer business and technical needs and collaborate with the Sales and Technical Delivery teams and account solutions architects to help them invest wisely in the right solutions from the Red Hat’s portfolio. As a Cloud Solutions Architect, you will primarily focus on Red Hat Virtualization, Red Hat OpenStack Platform, OpenShift by Red Hat, Red Hat CloudForms, and Ansible by Red Hat.

Primary Job Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed architecture pitches and reviews
• Demonstrate and carry out complex proofs of concepts
• Create strategies to respond to competitive threats and resolve issues
• Develop relationships with key customers
• Support regional technology coverage
• Develop and maintain content to enable solutions architects; run and support technical enablement events
• Help define accreditation requirements
• Become recognized by your peers as the domain subject matter expert
• Arrange speaking engagements at industry conferences, partner events, and user groups
• Collect, prioritize, and build a case based on multiple accounts and show trends to identify solutions and services gaps and opportunities; map future market opportunities
• Deliver whitepapers, analyst relationships, blogs, etc.

Required Skills

• 7-12 years of experience as a sales engineer, consultant, IT architect, or an equivalent role with enterprise accounts
• Willingness to travel to deliver on customer expectations; expected travel to Kenya is one week per month on average
• Ability to interpret customer business and technical needs
• Understanding of complex enterprise solutions and architectures
• Excellent presentation, communication, and documentation skills
• Advanced knowledge of UNIX or Linux operating systems
• Experience deploying and architecting open source cloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) solutions like Red Hat OpenStack Platform or KVM
• Knowledge of technologies like clustering, directory services, identity management, or automation
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Experience with programming languages like Python, Perl, or Java is a plus
• Experience across one or more vertical industry areas is a plus
