    Service Centre Supervisor

    Job description

    An excellent opportunity to manage all aspects of the in-house Service Centre and ensure that the department gives the highest level of service possible to our customers, while reducing cost in order to maximize profits.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Planning and scheduling of the work through the department, so as to optimize both equipment and resources, in order to deliver to the customer’s request.
    • To ensure that all seals and couplings are received with the necessary paperwork and are correctly identified.
    • Seals and couplings are properly stripped and cleaned, and the reconditioning report is completed indicating all the spares required for the repair.
    • Should a failure report be requested you would be required to liaise with the engineering department to obtain this information.
    • Assist with the customer quotations and costing of repairs.
    • To assist customers at counter sales.
    • Once an order has been received you will have to liaise with the appropriate internal departments to ensure that the customer receives his goods by the required date and to the required specification.
    • To make sure that the seals are correctly tested prior to dispatch.
    • To assist reps and customers in identifying and replacing seals/couplings with a John Crane alternative.
    • To be available to assist customers and reps with onsite problems.
    • To be pro-active in the re-ordering of all consumables used in the department.
    • Ensure that the equipment within the department is kept in good working order.
    • Maintain lapping and polishing machines to within John Crane’s specification.
    • Produce a monthly departmental progress report including workload and sales statistics.
    • Any other duties as may be reasonably required of you by your manager

    Required Skills and Experience:

    • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in a similar field
    • Experience with repairing high end refinery mechanical seals
    • Manage a small team of technicians
    • Able to ensure all machines used in the service centre comply to John Crane standards
    • Computer literate - able to use Excel and SAP
