    Job description

We are currently recruiting instructors to work in several thematic tracks:

    • Depending on the block, teaching commences in January/ June/ August 2018. With the option of working 4, 6 and 16 -week blocks. We are particularly interested in people who would be able to teach more than one course and throughout the year.

    The profile we seek:

You are passionately committed to student-centered pedagogy, and have a deep, specialist knowledge in one of the thematic tracks. Ideally, you have a PhD or are reading for one, have teaching experience, and syllabus/curriculum development experience. Evidence of a research track record is an advantage. You should be organized, and have excellent communication, time-management and administration skills. We have found that successful instructors are people who are willing to double as motivators. The CIEE Global Institute aims to reproduce the academic culture of a high-end liberal arts university in the US, with small class sizes and close mentoring of students. You should be excited about adjusting your pedagogy and approach accordingly.

This is an excellent opportunity for full-time academic staff, adjunct staff, and graduate students. For the right candidate there is also the potential for this to move into a full-time position. For CIEE, the perfect candidate is someone who combines specialist academic knowledge with a passion for teaching and an enthusiasm for interacting with, and inspiring, students.

    What we offer:

You will be joining a motivated and highly skilled global team. As a CIEE instructor you will be paid a salary near the top of the sector. We offer multiple levels of involvement, from single-course instructors, to track leaders and instructors of multiple courses.

Most courses require 45 contact hours, equating to 7 ½ hours per week taught on a Monday/Wednesday/ Friday or a Tuesday/ Thursday schedule. Instructors are paid in the region of R30 000 per course, although this will vary according to qualifications, experience and student reviews and may increase.

In the body of your message:
