Assistant Group Treasury Controller at Aspen Pharma Group

Job description

To provide functional support to the Group Treasury Manager and the Group Financial Executive of the Company by ensuring Group Treasury’s monitoring, operational and funding activities are fully implemented.

SPECIFIC OUTCOMES / ACCOUNTABILITY:

• Group Treasury – Operational roles
• Operational activities which are required to facilitate the existence of Aspen Finance (Pty) Limited (i.e. loading payments, generating invoices, preparing the trial balance and loading it to the Group consolidation system).
• Operational activities which are required to support the South African business (i.e. maintenance of loan asset schedules and related invoicing, recalculation and preparation of monthly interest expense summaries, trade confirmations).
• In support of the Group Treasury Manager, monitoring activities which are required at a Group level with respect to treasury risks (i.e. foreign exchange rate, interest rate, liquidity, counterparty, covenants and loan undertakings)
• In support of the Group Treasury Manager, funding activities which are required at a Group level to help achieve an optimal debt funding structure
• Recalculating the South African business’s monthly borrowing costs and related cash flows
• Maintaining the South African business’s loan asset book, and preparation of related monthly invoices
• Confirming (with external counterparties) trades executed by other members of the Group Treasury team
• Setting up calendar prompts for future interest and capital transaction dates
• Assisting in the preparation of treasury relevant South African board resolutions
• Input of market data to hedge accounting models
• Serving as a super-user with respect to the Group’s treasury management system
• Group Treasury – Monitory roles
• Assisting the GTM to prepare periodic Group level summaries (through the use of Excel based reporting templates) of, inter alia, the following risks:
• Foreign exchange rate
• Interest rate
• Liquidity
• Counterparty
• Covenants and general loan undertakings
• Assisting the GTM in the preparation of Group Treasury Committee information packs
• Assisting the GTM in the preparation of the treasury related information for inclusion in Board packs
• Assisting the GTM in preparation of periodic reporting to the South African Reserve Bank
• Finance
• Loading new payment beneficiaries to AF’s online banking platform
• Processing payments to AF’s online banking platform
• Generating invoices which AF issues to its customers
• Accounting for AF’s transactions
• Preparing AF’s monthly trial balance and reconciliations to relevant supporting documentation
• Capturing AF’s monthly actual results, as well as quarterly forecasts to the Group’s accounting reporting tool
• Confirming AF’s monthly actual, as well as quarterly forecast, intergroup balances and transactions.
• Preparing AF’s monthly VAT reporting
• Capturing new facilities and transactions to the Group’s treasury management system
• Preparing notices with respect to debt funding facilities transactions

Requirements

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Finance related undergraduate degree or similar qualification
• Experience working in the financial services industry, or in the finance/treasury division of a large corporate
• Experience in communicating with a large number of stakeholders
