PURPOSE / DETAILS OF THE JOB

Position is for a Senior Development Engineer reporting directly to the Trim Engineering manager. The successful candidate engineer will be responsible for the Design and Development of both Hard and Soft Trim Automotive parts .

QUALIFICATIONS

• National Diploma/ B Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum of 5 years experience in Automotive industry
• Experience on localisation of plastics, Rubber and Textile components

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Component Location
• Meet annual cost reduction targets through implementation of various technical studies
• Introduction of countermeasures for field quality problems
• NML Support with basic vehicle development Supervisor Functions

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE

• Understand the basic fundamentals of trim related components
• Understand tooling principles and tool line ups
• Understand technical requirements for suppliers to be able to generate accurate quotations
• Ability to understand timing parameters for each individual project
• Root cause analysis: Logical data , CPK
• Intelligent data collection
• Project management and ability to apply technical knowledge
• Knowledge of supplier capabilities and ability to identify potential pitfalls.
