PR and Communications Manager at Tencent Africa

Tencent Africa Services (Pty) Ltd is looking to recruit a PR and Communications Manager to join the Marketing team.

What you will be required to perform:

• Strategic Planning:
• Assist with the development of Tencent Africa’s communications policies and plans for internal and external communications
• Prepare internal and external communication plans
• Monitor the success of the plans and recommend updates as required
• Build relationships with key stakeholders in Naspers subsidiary businesses and agencies/suppliers.
• Campaigns and Communications Materials:
• Prepare written material for PR campaigns
• Maintain a range of publications and key media stakeholders to meet communication goals
• Identify target audiences and influencers
• Identify communication strategies and appropriate communication channels
• Prepare materials, including brochures, posters, media releases, newsletters, promotional products, banners etc.
• Prepare influencer strategies and relationships
• Ensure that the utmost care is taken when writing content and press releases for Tencent Africa’s products (WeChat, VOOV, JOOX)
• Issue/Crisis Management:
• Assist in the development and implementation of communication strategies for key issues that can affect Tencent Africa’s product offering (WeChat, VOOV, JOOX) or the market they operate in (Music streaming, social communications or live video chat)
• Identify activities/events in the market & social research industry that are likely to become media issues
• Recommend strategies to manage the issues, including identifying appropriate responses and communication channels
• Prepare communication material
• Media Relations:
• Maintain and develop links with national and international media outlets to facilitate good communication and ensure fair and accurate coverage of Tencent Africa’s products. (VOOV, WeChat, JOOX)
• Maintain current contact details of relevant journalists
• Prepare media statements
• Respond to media enquiries
• Marketing and Communications Advice:
• Provide advice to the Head of Marketing and Senior Management as required, about marketing and communication strategies
• Provide advice on appropriate marketing strategies, including positioning and marketing mix elements
• Provide advice on target audiences and best ways to communicate with them
• Events Management:
• Research and present market & consumer events and advise Tencent product owners (VOOV, WeChat, JOOX) about relevant events and sponsorship opportunities
• Assist with the coordination of all events & activations including guest list, invitations, venue, seating, marquees, catering, sound system, speeches, publicity etc.
• Manage event suppliers
• Report on event/activation PCA
• Administration:
• Assist in office administration
• Maintain and file PR reports for JOOX, VOOV and WeChat
• Maintain a media and contact list
• Deliver monthly PR reports for JOOX, VOOV and WeChat

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have the following competencies:

• 7+ years industry experience in PR and Corporate Communications Management
• A tertiary degree or diploma in communications
• Extensive media experience, having built up strong relationships in the media industry
• An outstanding ability to conceptualise and implement communication strategies and campaigns
• Excellent writing ability, communication and presentation skills
