    Business Partner - Risk Information Services (RIS) Lead

    Job description

    A new career opportunity has become available within the Risk function.

    Reporting to the Head Risk Information Services (RIS), Barclays Africa Group Limited (BAGL), be responsible for Risk Information Services (RIS), which is an enterprise-wide shared service that develops and maintains high quality risk management information and reporting in compliance with regulatory requirements and business needs to enable the effective management of risk. The Group Risk Information Services Business Partner Lead is responsible for the management and execution of group risk MI deliverables namely:

    • Risk management reports and disclosures to the Board, Exco, Principal risk officers and Business Unit Chief Risk Officers
    • Group risk limitations process and reporting
    • BAGL risk MI standards
    • Maintaining a sound operating infrastructure including skills, processes, technology and controls
    • Driving a transformational agenda to continuously improve efficiency and enable compliance to new ⁄ amended regulatory requirements

    Key Accountabilities:-

    • Oversee and own design and delivery of all Barclays Africa group risk information and reporting (30%)
    • Set the enterprise framework, policies and standards for the design, delivery and quality control of all risk information and reporting
    • Manage the effective and efficient execution of data and reporting processes across daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual cycles to the quality required by the enterprise framework, policies and standards
    • Understand, review and prioritize all new risk information and reporting requests, assigning resources as appropriate – including interpreting new regulatory requirements and formulating adequate response
    • Lead and Manage the Group Risk Function (20%):
    • Definition and implementation of an operating model that supports timeous delivery of objectives in a safe and controlled manner
    • Resource availability and allocation in line with the operating model and points of presence
    • Definition and sourcing of the requisite technology to deliver on the group risk function’s objectives
    • Definition and implementation of operational controls over data, information and reporting produced by the function
    • Conducting of research and development on data and reporting industry trends
    • Be an active contributor to the RIS leadership team, supporting initiatives within RIS’s remit
    • Lead a Transformational Agenda to Step Change Efficiencies for BAGL Group RIS (30%)
    • Set up a plan to consistently transform the cost profile, quality level, and time to market through simplification, automation and right-shoring
    • Lead key projects across the firm to enable this transformation, in particular:
    • The design of the data environment to enable efficiencies, better controls and more accurate capital measurement
    • Establishing synergies between risk, finance and treasury in the areas of data, management information and reporting
    • Develop a culture of process and report rationalization and excellence in efficiency
    • Lead the Engagement with External and Internal Stakeholders including (20%):
    • Barclays Africa CRO’s, Risk Managers and PROs
    • Regulators and or industry working groups on current and future risk reporting requirements
    • Functional partners across Barclays Africa (e.g. modeling teams, finance, it, operations, treasury, HR)

    Education and Experience Required

    • B-degree (accounting, economics, statistics or related quantitative science)
    • 5-10 years’ of analytics ⁄ risk management experience, preferably in a banking domain.
