Key purpose

Upon employment the employee will acquire:

• Understanding of Discovery’s culture, values and history
• Basic understanding of business context
• Sound knowledge of the business and operational reporting structure

Role/ responsibilities

• Collating and compiling various documents and information in order to process monthly journals
• Preparing and capturing monthly journals
• Preparing monthly reconciliations and investigating and resolving variances
• Compiling additional reports as required
• Liaising with various internal and external parties
• Capturing quarterly and yearly statutory returns
• Assisting auditors with queries
• Preparing, recording and monitoring of payment requisitions
• Ensuring the daily, weekly, monthly filing of all documentation are kept up to date

Experience and Qualifications

• Matric
• Studying towards or completed a relevant accounting qualification
• 3 years’ experience in financial reporting especially with journals and reconciliations
• Good understanding of accounting principles and application thereof
• MS Outlook and MS Excel

Advantageous

• Any Automation experience 
• Any Sage Accounting experience
