Accounts Clerk at Shoprite Group of Companies

About the role    

• The Accounts Clerk is responsible for providing accurate and timely financial administration support to the Freshmark operations in Cape Town. The role focuses on transaction processing, reconciliations and compliance with internal financial controls, contributing to the smooth day-to-day running of the finance function.

What you'll do    

• Daily handling of incoming Crate/Produce claims received from Checkers, Shoprite and Usave stores including updating of the authorised claim sheet 
• Liaising queries with all SR, CH, Usave, OK Franchise stores and OK Head Office 
• OK Franchise CMGJ - outstanding claims/invoice queries between OK Franchise Division and FM 
• Weekly CMPL updating and handling of queries (outstanding grv's and credits between SR and FM) 
• Following up with stores for PODs when required 
• Clearing debtors accounts  
• Contacting debtors for outstanding payments  
• Monitoring all debtors accounts including staff accounts (new, blocking etc) 
• Weekly/Monthly Interbranch balance confirmations 
• Allocation of various debtors’ payments  

Month end procedures:?  

• Payments (clearing of all Staff/Other/SR, CH,OK accounts) 
• Prepare debtors age analysis and intergroup reconciliation 
• Assist with other general administration in finance department as and when required 

What you bring    

• Grade 12 is essential; a relevant Finance qualification or studies towards one will be advantageous. 
• Previous experience in a debtors or finance-related environment is essential. 
• Advanced computer literacy with strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills; SAP and Market Master knowledge will be advantageous. 
• Strong numerical aptitude with excellent attention to detail and accuracy. 
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well within a team. 
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, multitask, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment. 
• Flexible, proactive, and committed to continuous learning and development.
