    Agricultural Business Lead/ Development Manager

    Introduction

    • M&L Laboratory Services (Pty) Ltd (part of the Bureau Veritas Group of Companies) is recruiting a Business Lead/ Development Manager in the Agricultural division based at the Operations in Ormonde (Johannesburg) to assist with managing all business lines related to Agri Services.

    Minimum Requirements

    • A tertiary qualification with BSc / Diploma or MBA or added financial qualification.
    • Minimum of 7 years managerial experience and preferably in the scientific field.
    • Proven track record in managing teams
    • Excellent communicator and presentation skill

    Job Specification

    Main Responsibilities

    • Shall be suitably qualified & have the necessary required managerial experience. Leading teams
    • Ensure daily production personnel and data generated timeously and accurately, so as to provide effective customer service. Ensure teams are mobilised and energised to deliver. Troubleshoot as required
    • To ensure laboratory activities are in compliance with the requirements of the Company Management System at all times. To structure the business unit as required, recruit and ensure succession as well team complete to perform optimally. Review the necessary organisation chart , competence and execution to ensure service delivery + changes to scope of services
    • Interact with subordinate teams via meetings, schedules as well as senior team and present to senior team on regular and as required basis
    • To offer a supportive and comprehensive analytical/advisory service to the requisite industries in conjunction with supervisors and technical experts for the BU
    • To liaise with and advise customers on all problems and queries with inclusion of the operational supervisor.
    • Identify and work with strategic initiatives up to level of business case
    • To keep abreast of techniques, developments and legislation relevant to the Department, industry and identify risks to the business. Keep abreast of competitor landscape
    • To plan and co-ordinate work schedules with laboratory supervisors.
    • Full responsibility for the entire financial value chain, quote to collection, organise and plan teams and administration
    • Full supportive and extension of business development and sales attend meeting present company business, lead forums, attend legislative meetings& paly active part
    • To ensure adherence to the Company PPE Policy (wear and use protective clothing and safety items issued) and uphold the Company Health and Safety requirements. 
    • To be competent in managing staff and ensure staff compliance
    • Interpret analytical results.
    • Customer communication, customer presentations, lead in business development at a customer level
    • Approval of customer quotation.
    • To maintain confidentiality of all M&L information.

    Key Skills

    • Manage the operational supervisors and senior staff, duties outlined in the ISO 17025, WHO, MCC etc. (where applicable).
    • Sign all operational procedures, method validation, protocols, and reports.
    • Investigate process changes that may affect the quality of the test results, validation protocols and reports, OOS, deviations, complaints and Corrective Action Requests (C.A.R.’s), and amendments to study plans.
    • Attend Internal/External audits.
    • Sign of Final Certificate of Analysis.
    • To liaise and advise customers on technical requirements.
    • To plan and co-ordinate work schedules with operational supervisors.
    • Review study plans, method transfers, validations, COA and amendments.
    • Delegation of duties to qualified personnel.
    • Resolving pressures within the department.
    • Promote and retain staff
    • Delegate and uplift all skills and promote where possible
