Overview
Element has an opportunity for an ICP OES ANALYST. Duties will include the analysis of a variety of metals in accordance with company methods and adhering to all quality aspects that are required to be carried out in an accredited laboratory.
Element Deeside is the largest analytical chemistry laboratory within the Element Group and the market leading UK laboratory undertaking the testing of soils, waters, wastes, oils, NAPLs, ambient air, soil vapours and gases from all over the world. The laboratory undertakes high volume routine analysis as well as offering bespoke method development, technical support and hydrocarbon forensic interpretations to enhance the support we can deliver. The laboratory has an international reputation for service excellence and supports clients that require a higher level of technical expertise, reliability in data quality and seamless project management from sample collection to timely delivery of data in the format of choice.
Responsibilities
Preparation of samples and any other duties to support the laboratory
Preparation of standards for calibration and quality purposes
Undertake analysis and reporting of results to company methods and procedures
Ensure all analytical procedures comply with appropriate quality standards
Ensure adherence to good lab practice and housekeeping at all times
Instrument calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting
Maintenance of training records
Prioritise workloads to ensure work is completed in a timely manner
Ensure a continual supply of lab consumables by monitoring stock levels and placing orders
Train other team members as required
Validate methods (as required) to ISO 17025 standard
Adhere to health and safety procedures
Skills / Qualifications
Higher education qualification in Chemistry or a Chemistry related subject
Experience within an ISO 17025 commercial analytical laboratory would be advantageous
Previous ICP experience essential
Alternative qualifications will be considered depending on relevant equivalent experience
A highly motivated and organised individual
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to work independently and adhere to deadlines
