    Android Developer

    Senior Android Developer

    A leading Software Design Studio in Johannesburg is looking for a Senior Android Developer to join their dynamic team. This company values collaboration and transparency, both with their employees and clients. They believe it’s not just about tech, it’s about people too – they aim to create great solutions by understanding the users and building lasting relationships.

    The purpose of the role is to Design, develop, and implement Android mobile applications to support business requirements.

    Senior Developers need to set the standard for developing exceptional products. They need to ensure that the product that they develop truly solves and addresses the client’s problem and is built with the user in mind.

    A Senior Developer needs to be an ‘all-rounder’ who writes exceptional code, builds sustainable client relationships, guides/mentors more junior developers and facilitates the process so that the best possible product can be produced.

     

    Experience:

    • 5+ years of proven experience as an Android developer
    • Skilled in Koltin (Non-negotiable)
    • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
    • Experience with software development in a test-driven environment
    • Excellent understanding and application of design principles
    • Ability to learn new languages and technologies
    • Excellent communication skills and being able to work independently or in a full team
    • Resourcefulness and troubleshooting aptitude
    • Attention to detail

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Entrench yourself in your client’s business to fully understand it and the goals that they want to achieve. This will help inform the solutions that are built, enabling the client to achieve their objectives.
    • Take a consultative approach to developing – i.e. consult the client, the team and always consider the user.
    • Write high-quality code and always look at the bigger picture and the context. This will allow you to save time, save money and ensure the best solution is built. Your code must pass all the requirements – i.e. code climate, integration tests, general specs and getting approval from a fellow developer
    • Work closely with the Product Owner on the project and provide the technical expertise and guidance where necessary.
    • Treat clients as part of the team, because ultimately, you are building something together.
    • Always be active in participating and guiding people who need assistance and mentorship.
