Job Purpose

• To assist the maintenance team and qualified electricians in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical and automated equipment used in FMCG production plants while gaining practical training to become a qualified electrician.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist electricians with maintenance and repair of production machinery.
• Help install and maintain motors, sensors, conveyors, and control panels.
• Assist in troubleshooting electrical faults on manufacturing equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance on electrical and automated systems.
• Support the maintenance team during machine breakdowns to reduce downtime.
• Assist with PLC panels, drives, and industrial control systems.
• Read and interpret electrical diagrams, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
• Help with testing electrical circuits and equipment using testing instruments.
• Ensure all work follows health, safety, and food-safety regulations in the factory.
• Keep tools, spare parts, and work areas clean and organized.

Minimum Requirements (Typical in South Africa)

• Matric / Grade 12
• N2–N6 Electrical Engineering qualification
• Basic knowledge of industrial electrical systems
• Ability to work shifts in a factory environment
• Understanding of safety standards in manufacturing plants
