    Area Manager Electrical (108151)

    Purpose of Job

    • To cost effectively ensure safe availability, integrity and reliable production assets in the area of responsibility.
    • Effective maintenance of the plants to ensure legal compliance. Ensure legal and statutory strategies are executed.
    • Coordinate all maintenance activities, weekly and shutdown work by use of Work Management Systems and Tools.
    • To ensure that all equipment have preventative maintenance strategies and are effective and must be reviewed regularly.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Manage an electrical maintenance team and multidisciplinary service providers
    • Ensure development of team to deliver a high-quality maintenance service
    • Manage multi-level interfaces and integrate effectively
    • Ensure equipment availability to meet the production plan
    • Execute critical maintenance activities and maintain the functionality of instrument and control systems 
    • Establish and report on agreed performance criteria
    • Ensures that self and team meet targets, due dates and quality standards
    • Ensure financial discipline and governance in the department. Continuously optimize maintenance activities
    • Ensure equipment availability agreed upon supports the production plan
    • Cost optimization by ensuring maintenance plans effectiveness in line with three, five- and ten-year renewal strategies 
    • Compile annual maintenance and shutdown budgets
    • Control cost to ensure the maintenance budget is achieved within budget
    • Shutdown management
    • Manage operations risks by making sure that all risks are identified, analysed and mitigated to acceptable levels
    • Execute SHE strategy to achieve zero harm. Continuous improvement of key safety metrics to maintain license to operate
    • Manage, revise and improvement of Asset Management standards for maintenance
    • Manage asset life cycle and plans
    • Oversee the management of Maintenance and the Work Management Process 

    Specific Technical knowledge and experience:

    • Electrical distribution systems (11kV down to 525V)
    • Electrical Distribution protection systems (Diff and Arc)
    • Medium voltage switchgear and protection (ABB and Reyrolle)
    • Medium voltage motors and starters (DOL, Transformer and Auto transformer)
    • Medium voltage generator and protection
    • Low voltage switchgear and protection (ABB).
    • Variable Speed Drive’s and soft starters (ABB, WEG)
    • UPS systems (single and dual systems)
    • BTU systems (single and dual systems)
    • Fast and automatic transfer schemes on Medium voltage and LV.
    • Switching of electrical distribution systems inside a substation.
    • SCADA knowledge (ABB) and communication.
    • Heater systems (elements control and tracing)
    • EX equipment inspection and maintenance.
    • Electrical motorised actuators maintenance (Rotork, Dremo)
    • Transformer maintenance
    • CCTV systems
    • Major hazardous installation regulation.
    • Explosive regulations for Prillan plant
    • Lift regulation and maintenance.

    Formal Education

    • B-Eng | B-Tech (Electrical Heavy Current)

    Experience:

    • Minimum 8 years total relevant Operations experience 
    • 3 years management experience required (acting will be considered relevant)
