Artisan Fitter & Turner CWS Machine Shop at Columbus Stainless

Main duties and responsibilities:

Preventative & Downtime Maintenance

• Perform scheduled maintenance and shutdown tasks according to job cards and safety permits. Ensure work is completed to standard, equipment is tested post-maintenance, and all documentation is finalized and submitted.

Safety Compliance

• Adhere to OHS&E regulations, including correct PPE usage, lock-out procedures, and active participation in daily safety discussions and monthly meetings.

Work Area Management

• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment. Ensure all machines, tools, and storage areas are in good working condition and kept neat.

Documentation & Reporting

• Accurately complete job cards, permits, and deviation schedules. Report any equipment faults, deviations, or safety concerns to the Team Manager. Manage spare part requests through approved systems.

Training Support

• Assist with the training and development of apprentices when assigned, in accordance with their training logbooks.

Tool & Equipment Care

• Handle tools responsibly; signing them out/in, keeping them clean and in good condition, reporting damage, and ensuring calibration and quality checks are regularly conducted

Requirements

Experience(More than 1 year will be advantageous)

• Good interpretation of technical drawings.
• Understanding of Lathe machinery systems/ operation.
• To able to manufacture spares and know how to perform work on key ways and shape milling machining such as hexagon and more.
• To able to manufacture spares.
• Be able to do surface grinding using machines such as blade grinder, slotting machine and internal key ways.
• Be able to operate a Mazak CNC Machine (Advantage)
• Be able operate a boring mill machine.
• To perform basic welding and gas cutting work.
• To operate a drilling machine, angle grinder, portable hydraulic power packs and jig saws.
• Primary Qualifications: Trade Relevant N3 / Technical Metric / NCV L4 with Maths and Science
