Artisan Instrumentation Mechanician at RCL Foods

Job Description    

• RCL FOODS is searching for an Artisan Instrumentation Mechancian to join our Sugar Division team based in Molatek Mill. The successful incumbent will report to the Foreman.

The successful incumbent will be required to:

• Perform asset care activities as required by the Company maintenance systems and procedures, including accurate and timeous feedback and documentation/ Notifications/Works orders.

Minimum Requirements    

• Matric with maths and science
• A minimum of N3 and a Trade Test certificate in instrumentation, successfully completed a formal institutionalised training programme
• National Diploma(N6/S4) with work experience.
• Ability to read and interpret PLC logic programs to do fault finding and execute control optimisation.
• Ability to use historical data for root cause analysis and optimise plant processes.
• Sugar and Milling work experience will be an advantage.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• Be fully computer literate and skilful in word and Excel.
• Self-motivated individual that can manage day to day activities and projects.
• Must be able to produce high quality workmanship.
• To be considered for appointment, candidate must be a South African citizen

Duties & Responsibilities    

• Carry out planned and autonomous maintenance, to reduce unplanned maintenance and optimize plant availability (maintain LTA set targets).
• Calibrate, repair, and maintain control gear/instrumentation and associated equipment (Electrical interlocks) to ensure operation within set standards and produce calibration certificates.
• Carry out installations, defined checks, trouble shooting, testing, repairs and modifications to instrumentation and electronic equipment.
• Maintain and improve existing PLC, HMI, SCADA systems and Instrumentation networks (hardware and software) and perform changes/modifications as required.
• Ensure proper documentation to make changes/modifications are completed and filed.
• Ensure availability of critical spares.
• Assist in the design and development of basic drawings, management of contractors and commissioning of projects.
• Perform standby duties and unplanned overtime.
• Ensure adherence to all safety, health and environmental procedures and guidelines as well as all other company policies and procedures.
