Assistant Analyst (Modderfontein, Pinelands) at AECI Limited

Job Description    
AEL is looking to recruit 2x Assistant Analysts to work in Modderfontein and Pinelands. To assist with the delivery of analytical service in the research and development department.
AEL was established in 1896 and has become one of the world's leading suppliers of explosives and initiating systems.
Comprises of 16 businesses complimented by production facilities and offices throughout Southern Africa, Africa, and select international regions in South East Asia, South America and Europe. AEL has 58 plants and 34 sites in more than 20 countries.

Duties & Responsibilities    

•  Perform analysis on raw materials, in process samples and final products.
•  Can be required to assist in the development of test methods.
•  Assist with updating of test methods, operating instructions and other documentation.
•  Responsible for some of the equipment used in the laboratory.
•  Assist with accreditation for requirements ISO 9001, 17020, 17025, 18001.
•  Comply with Safety, Health and Environment standards.
•  Collect and deliver samples and results to and from the various plants and customers.

 Assist with various duties for the effective operation of the laboratory:

o Cleaning of glassware.

o Changing of cylinders.

Qualifications & Experience    

•  Matric / Grade 12.
•  BSc / B Tech in chemistry, Analytical Science or NQF equivalent.
•  Minimum of 1 - 2 years in the explosives or chemistry industry.
•  Sound chemistry and analytical chemistry knowledge.
•  Report writing.
•  Drivers licence.
•  Understading of chemistry, product lines and materials within the Analytical Chemistry sector.
