MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Grade 10 or equivalent;
• NQF level 2 with Mechanical background;
• 2 years relevant experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist with maintenance, servicing and repairs of municipal vehicle, plant and equipment under the direction of Artisan/Supervisor, including engines, gearboxes, clutches, brake, suspension and auxiliary components;
• Perform mechanical support tasks including removing and fitting tyres, wheels and components, servicing oils/filters, greasing, battery maintenance, minor breakdowns, hydraulic system, auto-electrical work and basic diagnostic/fault – finding activities with scope of competence;
• Assist with inspections and vehicle recovery, including routine pre-delivery and long-trip inspections, checking vehicle/plant functionality and safety, and assisting with recovery of defective or accident vehicles and minor breakdowns as instructed;
• Complete workshop administration and comply with safety requirements, including job cards, timesheets, risk assessments, toolbox talks and prescribed occupational Health and Safety procedures;
• Maintain workshop tools, equipment and work areas, including correct use and safekeeping of tools, housekeeping, cleaning vehicles/work areas and reporting defective tools, equipment or machinery to the supervisor.
