    Assistant Riding Instructor

    Responsibilities

    • Improving pupil’sriding skills and techniques(in conjunction with theWEC Manager), by using structured and planned riding lessons;
    • Assisting pupil’s with understanding sound equestrian practises and protocols and setting a good example in all equestrian
    • aspects at all times;
    • Providing comments on ridersforreport purposes asrequired and providing input fortheWEC annualreport;
    • Adhering to the policies of the School, in particular policies relating to the safeguarding of children;
    • Assisting with the SANESA shows, both local and out of town;
    • AttendingWEC Shows and Pony Camps and assisting with the planning and preparation thereof;
    • Promoting good sportsmanship and conduct for pupils;
    • Adhering to allrelevant aspects of Health and Safety/First Aid;
    • General administration

    Skills & requirements:

    • Grade 12 and a Module 4 EQASA qualification is preferable;
    • CEEPSA membership;
    • Previous experience in coaching pupilsto ride;
    • Experience in riding and schooling ponies and horses;
    • The ability to work with adults & pupils
    • The ability to accompany and/or drive ridersto and from shows(local and out of town);
    • Professional, flexible, conscientious and able to act with discretion at all times;
    • Be able to relate to and supervise pupils;
    • Self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills(with pupils,staff, parents and externalstakeholders);
    • Excellent organisational and time managementskills;
    • Have the ability to work in a pressurised environment;
    • Hard-working,reliable, honest, enthusiastic and energetic;
    • Ability to promote and embrace diversity and inclusion;
    • Driverslicence and valid PDP is preferable ;
    • First aid qualifications;
    • Prepared to work overtime and on weekends;
    • Requisite clearance certificates.
