    Associate BI Engineer

    Your Role At Impact

    • As an Associate BI Engineer, you are enthusiastic about organising data and the prospect of supporting insights in a dynamic, fast growing business.
    • The role assumes that you have some understanding of all aspects of Business Intelligence ( Source Data layer, ETL, Data Warehousing and Visualisation.) At this level you are expected to have an understanding of the business requirements of all stories in the sprint assigned to you and will be expected to implement your tasks with collaborative support from your team. You should feel comfortable escalating appropriately, collaborating with your peers and contributing to the standards and documentation library that will uplift the quality of the work produced by the team.
    • You will be expected to participate in discussions with business stakeholders when soliciting requirements and drive the implementation when assigned.

    What You'll Do

    • Develop, test and maintain SQL-Based Reporting Features for the Platform
    • Perform meaningful tests for the features built
    • Collaborate with a distributed team to fulfil the department's quarterly objectives
    • Develop code both independently and while pair programming
    • Write and maintain design, user and test documentation
    • Learn the Impact Reporting Tools
    • Learn the Impact Databases (which data is where, and how to find out how)
    • Learn best practices for creating well-performing SQL within the Impact data platform
    • Perform triage activities through verification and fixing of bugs
    • Build customer-facing code with oversight
    • Support software testing and quality assurance processes to ensure high-quality deliverables
    • Assist with quality management and continuous improvement efforts within the company.
    • Provide financial reports for audit requests, internal users and other key stakeholders.

    What You Have

    • There are a variety of skills that are essential for a BI engineer, depending on the specific role and organization. Some of the most common skills and areas of expertise that are important for BI engineers include:
    • Strong technical skills: BI engineers need to have a strong understanding of data management and analytics technologies, such as SQL, ETL tools, data warehousing, and BI and reporting tools.
    • Programming skills: Many BI engineers have a background in programming and are comfortable working with a variety of programming languages, such as Python, R, Java, or C#.
    • Data modelling: BI engineers should have experience designing and maintaining data models that are used to structure and organize data for reporting and analysis.
    • Data warehousing: BI engineers should have experience working with data warehousing technologies and architectures, and understand how to design and optimize data warehouses for performance and scalability.
    • Business acumen: BI engineers should understand the business context in which they are operating and be able to communicate effectively with business users to understand their needs and provide them with the data and insights they need.
    • Project management skills: BI engineers may be involved in managing and coordinating the work of a team of data engineers, developers and analysts, so project management skills and the ability to work in cross-functional teams are important.
    • Continuous learning: The field of BI and data analytics is constantly evolving, so BI engineers should be willing and able to learn new technologies and techniques as they emerge.
