    Associate - Marine

    Job requirements

    • We are presently in search of an Associate with at least 1 year of post-qualification experience to provide support to our Cape Town Marine and Insurance Team. This position offers an excellent chance to become a part of a team comprising seasoned industry experts. You will represent a diverse portfolio of regional and international clients, while also benefiting from unparalleled access to our offices in different jurisdictions.     Key Responsibilities

    Assisting the Partner and other team members on a range of complex and large-scale matters, including but not limited to:

    • International trade, commodities, shipping, transportation, commercial agreements, court proceedings, domestic and international arbitration, marine insurance, and commercial disputes
    • Conducting legal research and analysis related to a broad-spectrum of legal issues and matters.

    Candidate profile

    • Suitable candidates will have strong academic results.
    • Candidates will have minimum 2 years' post-qualification experience.
    • Ability to juggle a range of tasks and prioritise effectively.
    • Clear commercial understanding and outcome focus with a desire to deliver the highest quality service and advice to leading international clients.
    • Strong drafting skills and excellent attention to detail.
    • Proven ability to work as part of a team with varying levels of responsibility and supervision depending upon the matter.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and networking ability.
    • Preference will be given to candidates with marine and/or insurance background and qualifications.
