Associate Test Engineer - Modderfontein at ABB

Job Summary 

You will be working as Associate Test Engineer and you will be the part of Electrification business area for Distribution Solutions division based in Longmeadow, South Africa. In this role you will be reporting to the Test Manager and will be responsible for supporting completion of testing activities efficiently and cost-effectively, and in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards and safety requirements, test product and system and validate material to ensure that these follow prescribed technical specifications.

Your responsibilities

• Supporting Test Engineers with product and system testing, preparing standard test records and completing test documentation.
• Sharing best practices across different projects and assist other Test Engineers, ensuring compliance as per IEC standards.
• Maintaining test reports and certificates that prove compliance with required and applicable standards, market or regulatory requirements in line with customer specifications, legal or ABB internal requirements.
• Collaborating with Design Engineering, Project Management and Distribution Automation Departments.

Your background

• Diploma Electrical Engineering (Heavy/Power) or equivalent
• Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in testing
• Good understanding of schematic and single line drawings (electrical symbols, wiring diagram, etc)
• Good technical and troubleshooting skills on electrical circuits
• Good knowledge on instrument transformers (CT/VT testing), and basic knowledge on protection relays
• Basic knowledge on switchgear and switchgear components
• Preference will be given to EE candidates.
