    Associate VP (Business Development)

    Associate VP (Business Development)

    Our client, a leader in Intelligent Automation for Insurance provides a step-change in organizational agility through Intelligent Automation, with a focus on customer-centric and internal journeys is looking for Associate VP (Business Development) to join their innovative team based in Johannesburg. In this role, you will be responsible for business growth in South Africa in the banking and insurance sectors and establishing strong relationships with key customers. This is  an individual contributor role and will require strong interpersonal relationship skills within the company.

    Job Type: Full-Time 

    Salary: Market-related 

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Business degree, preferably an MBA
    • 9-14 years of experience in tech sales and business development for the software industry in South Africa
    • Past sales experience in Banking in covering solutions for retail, corporate and wealth management
    • Good understanding of modern technologies used in automation (Workflow, RPA, middleware), web portals and mobile applications
    • Good understanding of project delivery models for software development and application management
    • Experience and strong relationships with one or more organizations such as Nedbank, ABSA, FNB, Standard Bank and Liberty
    • In-depth understanding of the sales life cycle and managing clients through the pipeline to the contract stage
    • Strong business acumen and vision of business growth

    Skills Required: 

    • Good understanding of digital solutions for banking and insurance technology services
    • General knowledge of financial solutions technology including systems, applications and practices
    • Strong negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal, solid decision-making and problem-solving skills
    • Analytical skills to determine client business needs and requirements, ability to remain calm under various levels of pressure
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of management (internally/externally), employees, clients and industry affiliations
    • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation

    Key Responsibilities: 

    • Establish strong relationships across the client organization especially for decision-makers and influencers
    • Prepare a sales plan, develop the sales pipeline and manage the sales plan to achieve the sales targets
    • Lead the preparation, discussions and all sales activities involving the right talent from partners (where applicable) and client
    • Develop and deliver strong pitch via in-person or remote presentations
    • Identify compelling reasons and establish competitive advantages for all sales opportunities
    • Help strengthen ongoing engagements and expand the coverage of solutions 
    • Work closely with the delivery teams spread out in South Africa and India
    • Finalise and negotiate on price and payment structures and close deals that meet customer expectations and the ability to deliver
    • Prepare sales contracts ensuring adherence to law-established rules and guidelines
    • Keep learning newer technologies and relevance with customer marketplace
    • Manage records of sales, revenue, invoices etc.
    • To work closely with our business partners, consultants, market research companies and friends of the firm in general
