Key Responsibilities

Sample Reception & Logging

• Receive, check, and log incoming samples accurately into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
• Verify documentation (e.g., chain of custody, submission forms) and resolve discrepancies with clients or couriers.
• Label and store samples under correct conditions (chilled, frozen, ambient) per protocols.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and biosecure reception area.
• Prepare and transfer samples to the relevant analytical departments within turnaround times.
• Archive or dispose of samples according to retention policies.

Sample Collection & Delivery

• Collect and deliver samples to/from clients, couriers, and other facilities, ensuring proper handling and transport conditions.
• Conduct sampling as required, following prescribed procedures.
• Keep accurate records of vehicle use and report any incidents immediately.
• Maintain the vehicle in clean, safe, and good working condition.
• Ensure secure packing and placement of samples in designated storage areas.

Administrative & Logistical Support

• Follow SOPs and health & safety regulations at all times.
• Treat company property (vehicles, equipment, and samples) with care and respect.
• Assist with packing, storage, and sample organization.
• Provide administrative support to the lab team as needed.
• Act as a point of contact for clients or couriers regarding sample-related queries.

Qualifications

• Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent (essential).
• A valid Code 08 driver’s license (essential).
• Tertiary qualification in Food Science, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or equivalent (Advantageous).

Experience

• 1–2 years’ experience in logistics, driver or related environment.
• Prior experience in a laboratory, sample reception or related field (advantageous).
• Experience with LIMS or sample tracking systems (advantageous).
