    Audit Manager: Internal Audit

    Role Description:

    • As an Internal Audit Manager, you will assist the Head of Internal Audit and Senior Audit Managers in providing reliable, value added and independent assurance to the Board, Shareholders and other relevant Stakeholders (e.g. external auditors, regulators, etc.) over the adequacy and effectiveness of the internal control environment, in mitigating current and evolving risks across the business.


    Responsibilities:
    You will assist the Head of Internal Audit and Senior Audit Managers with:

    • Application of the internal audit framework and methodology.
    • Application of the internal audit charter.
    • Assisting in maintaining the internal audit universe.
    • Performance of business wide (universe) inherent risk and control risk assessments.
    • Conduct internal audit assignments following a risk based approach in line with IIA standards and time lines and budgets:
      • Planning of internal audit assignments per the risk assessment.
      • Planning of management requested and other adhoc internal audit assignments.
      • Being responsible and accountable for all aspects of audit execution:
      • Walkthroughs
      • Key risk identification
      • Key control identification
      • Key control adequacy assessments
      • Definition of testing strategies
      • Population analysis and sample selections
      • Conducting fieldwork and control effectiveness testing
      • Consolidation of findings and agreed action plans (recommendations)
      • Creation of internal audit reports
      • Obtaining management comments and agreeing internal audit reports with management
      • Finalisation and publication of audit reports.
      • Finalisation of audit files in line with internal audit best practice and methodology requirements.
      • Execute and manage internal audits within predetermined time frames.
    • Building relationships with Management and Executives.
    • Conducting follow up activities across the business.
    • Assist in delivering the approved audit plan as agreed by the Audit Committee.
    • Execute in line with quality assurance programs as per the IIA standards and internally adopted audit processes and supervise staff to ensure compliance.
    • Deliver a best practice assurance service to the Audit Committee and management and continue to improve the quality of audit services.
    • Promote an awareness of control and risk throughout the group and support compliance with corporate governance requirements.
    • Increase management focus on the effective application of controls, best practice, etc., to further improve fraud awareness, prevention and detection.
    • Assist the team in adhoc assignments from time-to-time.


    Experience, qualifications and skills:

    • University Degree required.
    • Must have CA (SA), CIA designation or similar.
      Completed articles at the 'Big 4'.
    • IT audit qualifications (CISA, CISM, CGEIT)
    • Must have 5 years Internal Audit Experience in banking.
    • A solid understanding of banking environments and a reasonable understanding of relevant regulations (i.e. FICA, PoPI, Market Conduct, Basel, Banks Act, GDPR, NCA, Excon etc.) would be advantageous
    • Good application of IT and a thorough knowledge of the related control and security standards.
    • Thorough understanding of internal control; related internal audit methodologies and techniques; risk Management frameworks; and practical application thereof.
    • Knowledge of Data Analytics, Application Control Review, General Control and Information Security testing.
    • Strong analytical and organisational skills (financial, planning, operational).
    • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide audience including management and think creatively.
    • Excellent relationship building skills and an entrepreneurial approach.
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
      Strong values; ethics; and ability to maintain professional independence and objectivity.
