    Boilermaker

    • We are seeking a suitably qualified Boilermaker to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the fabrication, assembly, installation, maintenance and repair of metal components and structures in accordance with technical drawings, specifications, quality standards and safety procedures.

    Main Responsibilities:

    Fabrication and Manufacturing

    • Fabricate, cut, bend and assemble metal components in accordance with approved drawings and work instructions.
    • Perform marking-off, fit-ups and alignment of fabricated components to the required tolerances and specifications.
    • Conduct welding activities in accordance with approved welding procedures and quality standards.
    • Prepare weld joints and complete grinding and finishing activities to required specifications.
    • Inspect fabricated components and welds for quality and compliance with specifications.

    Maintenance and Repairs

    • Perform routine maintenance and repair work on structural and mechanical components.
    • Conduct emergency repairs on damaged or worn equipment and structures.
    • Assist with rebuilds, plant shutdowns and maintenance activities when required.
    • Replace worn or damaged sections of metal components and structures.

    Tools, Equipment and Materials Management

    • Operate fabrication machinery, welding equipment and hand tools safely and efficiently.
    • Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition and report defects timeously.
    • Request materials and welding consumables when required and ensure economical use of materials.
    • Assist with proper storage and handling of materials and equipment.

    Quality Assurance

    • Conduct visual inspections of fabricated items and welds to ensure compliance with quality standards.
    • Complete self-inspections and report deviations or defects.
    • Support quality documentation and job record requirements where applicable.

    Safety, Health and Environmental Compliance

    • Follow permit-to-work procedures including hot work and confined space requirements.
    • Participate in risk assessments, toolbox talks and safety meetings.
    • Report hazards, incidents and near misses in accordance with company procedures.

    Minimum Requirements:

    Education and Trade Qualification

    • Grade 12 or equivalent.
    • Recognised Boilermaker Trade Test (Red Seal).

    Experience

    • 3-5 years' relevant fabrication and welding experience in a construction, manufacturing or heavy engineering environment.
    • Experience working with structural steel, plate work or similar fabrication activities.
    • Ability to read and interpret technical and fabrication drawings.
    • Practical knowledge of welding processes such as SMAW, MIG, TIG and/or FCAW.
    • Advantageous: 5-8 years' experience in plant, mining or construction workshops performing complex fabrication, repairs and shutdown maintenance.
