Children’s Ages: 8 year old (Grade 2) and 5 year old (Sensory and ADHD) - Girls
Child’s Neurodivergence Snapshot: 5 year old - we are not sure yet if she might be on the autism spectrum or type of ADHD or trauma of divorce. As it is very difficult to see. She does get angry quickly and is sensitive to some textures. We do try to keep by a routine that helps a lot.
Support Style: 5 year old - She is currently seeing a Neurologist, Psychologist and OT. So, we do have a lot of support but we do not have a definite diagnosis. She is doing much better. She definitely does struggle on transition days between the two homes. We limited transitions to 2:2:5:5. Which is more age appropriate and she is coping much better. We had all types of psychologists input.
Working hours: Every Monday, Tuesday and every 2nd Friday 12:00 – 17:00
School holiday hours: Same as above / Slightly Flexible (Mom may require more hours during the school holidays, if the candidate does have availability, they will be paid overtime as per their hourly rate)
Duties: Collect from school, Assist with and supervise homework, Engaging in intellectually stimulating play & activities with child, Run ad hoc errands for the home, prepare snacks and meals, and ensure bags are packed for the next day.
Special Requirements: Afrikaans or Bilingual, past special needs experience working with ADHD or sensory sensitive children. Firm and mature personality.
Start Date and contract term: ASAP – permanent
Salary: R9000pm (Gross, before deductions) + SARS rates per km (R4.76)
All Au Pair Extraordinaire applicants must fill the following requirements:
Must have at least 12 consecutive months of formal child caring experience, excluding work done for friends and family. This experience must be within the last 2 years.
Must have their own, reliable car and at least 18 months driving experience.
Must have at least 2 contactable childcare references.
