Job Advert Summary    
PURPOSE: To maintain and rebuild refractory in furnaces, launders and tundishs.

Minimum Requirements    
QUALIFICATIONS:

• Grade 12/Standard 10 Technical (Essential/Minimum)
• N2 Relevant Trade Subjects (Essential/Minimum)
• Trade: Refractory Mason MQA/QCTO (Essential/Minimum)

EXPERIENCE:

• 2-3 years Relevant experience in Steel working / Refractory and Plant experience Importance: (Essential/Minimum)

REQUIREMENTS:

• Psychometric Assessment (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
• Certificate of Fitness (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)

Duties & Responsibilities    
The incumbent will inter alia be responsible for the following:

Equipment Control and Maintenance

• Reline Furnace and change refractory
• Refractory recasting/repairing furnace/plant equipment
• Inspect/repair/maintain equipment and surrounding infrastructure
• Perform hands on maintenance support during breakdowns/shutdowns
• Conduct technical testing and inspection of equipment/refractory lines
• Attend to refractory breakdowns immediately

Maintenance, Process and Equipment Efficiency

• Adhere to planned maintenance schedules
• Ensure optimal use of available resources
• Complete, process and update all maintenance records

Routine Work Management

• Fill in job cards daily and submit to foreman
• Transfer knowledge and give guidance to Artisan Aides/trainees to improve their skills

Safe and Healthy Work Environment

• Adhere to all health and safety practices and promote good housekeeping on an ongoing basis
• Address all unsafe practices and potential hazardous situations, rectify/report to superior
• Comply with Safety Health Environment and Community (SHEC)/technical requirements
• Wear applicable Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) at all times
