Investec Sandton is seeking a Business Analyst to join the Central Services Risk and Compliance division. The role serves as a key link between business stakeholders and IT development teams, supporting effective communication and delivery. The Business Analyst will be responsible for the structured investigation, analysis, and documentation of business areas, including business functions, processes, and the information used across multiple applications. The role involves identifying and assessing business needs and proposing timely, practical solutions to enhance business functions and processes. The successful candidate will require strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of attention to detail. Responsibilities include translating business‑as‑usual requirements into standardized specification formats, ensuring the quality of requirement implementation, defining user acceptance testing strategies and test cases, and coordinating user system testing. The Business Analyst is expected to work in line with agreed standards, methodologies, and processes.
Key Responsibilities
Own and maintain end-to-end data lineage and traceability across source systems, the ODS platform, and downstream Risk and Compliance systems, aligned to RDARR principles.
Perform structured impact assessments for change initiatives, identifying upstream and downstream data, process, and system impacts across the full data value chain.
Collaborate with engineering teams and domain BAs to translate business and regulatory requirements into clear, implementable technical specifications.
Produce and maintain high-quality documentation, including requirements, data mappings, lineage artefacts, and governance documentation aligned to audit and control standards.
Identify, analyse, and resolve data gaps, inconsistencies, and misalignments across integrated systems, ensuring data integrity and completeness.
Support and coordinate testing, validation, and reconciliation activities, ensuring changes meet data quality, accuracy, and regulatory expectations.
Engage proactively with stakeholders across source systems, ODS, and downstream consumers to ensure clear understanding of requirements, impacts, and priorities.
Contribute to and uphold change governance processes, ensuring traceability, control, and consistency across all system and data changes.
Support data quality and control initiatives, including root cause analysis and remediation tracking for data defects.
Continuously improve BA practices, documentation standards, and traceability frameworks within the ODS team.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
5+ Years Business Analysis experience in a cross section of Application environments, preferably in the Banking or Financial arena. Experience in Credit Risk would be beneficial
Experience in data analysis is essential.
Strong SQL skills are required
Experience in working with Cloud solutions will be beneficial
Power BI / Business Intelligence skills will be beneficial
