The Responsibilities: 

• Support the development of the Africa Operational Excellence & Technology initiatives from
• Concept through to Feasibility Studies
• Engagement with site for progression of the Operational Excellence & Technology initiatives
• Analysis of business cases for Operational Excellence & Technology investment
• Engagement of consultants for works initiatives including preparation of scopes, tendering, assessment and award processes                            
• Coordination with assets and stakeholders on project task delivery
• Preparation of reporting for project activities including schedule and cost tracking
• Support regional technology lead in the development of asset technology roadmaps
• Evaluate mineral process performance and identify trends and opportunities for process improvements and make recommendations for process improvement
• Oversee and perform fault finding analysis to determine root cause and make recommendations regarding corrective actions
• Define process problems through self-initiative and from plant interaction and then investigate root causes and manage the implementation of corrective actions
• Benchmark mineral processes against industry best practices and identify gaps and propose appropriate technological improvements to close the gaps
• Develop scopes and delivery plans for activities required to be completed under the project plans and actively manage and co-ordinate the works in progress
• Management of the consultants and advisors engaged as part of the role
• Interface with asset leadership and operational teams in works in progress
• Cross functional engagement as part of the technology transformation program
• Engagement with the internal stakeholders in copper and other commodities

The Requirements: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Chemical or Process Engineering
• Postgraduate in Business, Finance, Technology, Analytics (desirable)
• +5 years’ experience in an operation, maintenance, functional roles in an industrial business
• Experience in finance, strategy development and execution
• Demonstrated experience in operations, maintenance or project management in mining industry
• Background or experience in continuous improvement or change programs
• Experience in financial assessment (desirable)
• Knowledge of Power BI and/or Tableau (beneficial)
• Experience in data gathering, cleaning, analysing (SQL, Excel, Power Query) (beneficial)
