What will you do?
Responsible for financial analyses or for a division providing financial accounting services for head office and/or group companies. Applies principles of accounting to analyse financial information and prepare financial reports. Compiles and analyses financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger, documenting business transactions. Analyses financial information detailing assets, liabilities and capital. Prepares balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position. Audits contracts, orders and vouchers and prepares reports to substantiate transactions prior to settlement. Installs, modifies, documents and coordinates implementation of accounting systems and control procedures. Makes recommendations regarding the accounting of reserves, assets and expenditures. May have supervisory and/or client relationship responsibilities.

Job purpose
Glacier by Sanlam is, is a product house in the Retail Affluent cluster specifically in the middle and affluent market with the aim of being the leading provider of this business in South Africa. As Business Consultant: Mergers and Acquisitions, the incumbent will be responsible for supporting the management of transactions, financial analysis, evaluation of business opportunities and contracting with counterparties.
Key outcomes
The following outcomes will be expected to be achieved by the Business Consultant:
• Analyse the Glacier transactions and drive completion thereof including:
o strategic rationale,
o financial impact and shareholder value creation potential,
o transaction and implementation risks and funding alternatives.
• Assist with the coordination and liaison with business heads, financial and legal advisors, and regulatory bodies.
• Financial and economic analyses of proposed capital expenditure, investment, mergers and acquisitions, financial restructuring, new product introductions and operating profit plans
• Build detailed business plan and summarise KPI/decisions required to ensure benefit realisation
• Consider impact of transactions on the business and resolve internal implications and resolution thereof. Assist with implementation considerations
• Drive innovation initiatives and investigations to find suitable alternatives to business challenges
• Continuous engagement and collaboration across all parties affected by the project, merger or acquisition. Provide general transaction support and insights across the different stakeholders
• Change management support
Qualifications and experience
• CA (SA) with 3 - 5 years post articles experience, or
• BComm (Acc) with 7 years’ experience in a similar role
• Experience in Financial Services will be to the candidate’s advantage
• Experience in Mergers & Acquisitions will be to the candidate’s advantage
