    Business Development Manager - Cape Town

    Job Description

    • We are looking for a client‑focused Business Development Manager to cultivate new opportunities and deliver exceptional value to our customers. This will be based at our Durban Branch in Grindrod House 

    Education

    • Matric
    • 1 year Sales and Marketing related qualification at NQF level 5

    Knowledge and experience

    • 5 years working experience as a sales representative in a service industry of which at least last 3 consecutive years were in the clearing and forwarding industry
    • Servicing & marketing principles & practice. International Trade principles & practice
    • External business environment. Company service charge rates
    • Tariff calculation concepts
    • Company terms of payment
    • Computer literacy(MS Office Package)
    • Carrier & depot conditions of trade
    • National currencies and international codes. INCO Terms
    • Verbal communication – advanced
    • Business opportunism. Presentation & Negotiation
    • Client/service orientation. Situation analysis & problem solving
    • Judgment & decision making. Creative & innovative thinking
    • Interpersonal sensitivity
    • Estimate and pricing analysis and knowledge
    • Discipline in maintaining required weekly call ratio
    • Discipline in acquiring quality not quantity client base

    Overall responsibilities 

    • Acquire New Business for both Air and Sea.
    • Facilitate processing of credit application
    • Implementation (New and existing client)
    • Client Servicing
    • Record client information
    • Report on Sales Activities
    • Cost freight movements and prepare service estimates
    • Comply with the requirements of the quality management system
