    Business Development Manager (uYilo) 3 year fixed- term contract (9E72)

    CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

    The Business Development Manager will play a key role in expanding business opportunities  and new funding for the national electric mobility programme. As part of the management team, the Business Development Manager helps  manage  funder  cultivation,  funding  proposals,  business  development  proposals,  new  partnerships,  and cultivate new and existing stakeholder relationships.

    • The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, efficient, flexible person who can cultivate strategic relationships  and  opportunities,  manage  many  competing  assignments  and  deadlines,  and  assist  where  needed. We seek candidates who are enthusiastic about electric mobility and renewable energy, comfortable working with diverse partners, and who share our vision on advancing the electric mobility ecosystem.

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

    Business Development and Fundraising

    • Work with our multi-disciplinary team, current and potential funders, and external organizations to generate funding from a variety of sources
    • Identify new funding prospects, serve as team lead on funding opportunities and manage the development of proposals and appropriate documentation
    • Identify and lead process improvements for fundraising to ensure efficiency, streamline efforts, and improve proactive coordination
    • Assist with regular updates to the annual financials, information of progress, and communication with team leads
    • Maintain knowledge of industry trends, best practices, and stakeholder priorities
    • Support resource management efforts by providing core strategies mapping and project management support to the Programme Manager

    Market Discovery

    • Identify new market segments and new regions for key opportunities and potential new clients and funders
    • Develop a marketing strategy and support its implementation for brand awareness and services
    • In collaboration with management, identify new opportunities that align with industry trends

    CORE COMPETENCIES AND REQUIREMENTS

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in business, or related field

    Minimum Experience:

    At least 5 years experience in fundraising, business development, or related field

    • Track record of successful fundraising efforts, including grant writing with a creative, entrepreneurial approach
    • Good networking skills and ability to cultivate programme and funding relationships and opportunities
    • Demonstrated self-motivation and ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Ability to efficiently manage and prioritize many competing day-to-day assignments and deadlines
    • Enthusiasm for technology (mobility and renewable energy)
    • Good communication skills (written, verbal and presentation)
    • Valid driver’s license

    South African citizen
    Desirable Additional Education, Work Experience and Personal Qualities:

    • Master’s degree,or post-graduate degree in business, marketing or related field is advantageous
    • Working  knowledge  of  clean  technology,  government  departments,  local  and  international  funding organisations
