    Business Development Specialist - Insurance (FTC - 6Months) (North-West & Western Cape Offices)

    MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    • To drive profitable sales growth and provide end-to-end specialist sales support across LBI crop, life and asset products by developing opportunities, servicing distribution partners and customers, coordinating product solutions and maintaining a reliable sales pipeline within approved regulatory and governance requirements.

    Key Performance Areas    
    Achievement of sales targets across crop, life and asset products

    • Translate provincial sales plans into an individual pipeline and activity plan
    • Identify, qualify and convert opportunities across all three product lines
    • Coordinate quotations and solutions with underwriting, operations, claims and product teams
    • Monitor conversion, retention, renewals and cross-selling
    • Operate within approved mandates and regulatory requirements

    Manage stakeholder and distribution relationships

    • Develop relationships with Land Bank teams, brokers, UMAs, cooperatives, partners and clients
    • Conduct structured visits and needs discussions
    • Coordinate service matters and escalate complex issues
    • Maintain stakeholder records and action plans

    Provide multi-line product support and advice

    • Explain approved product features and process requirements for crop, life and asset
    • Match identified needs to appropriate approved solutions within authorised status
    • Support completeness and quality of sales submissions
    • Keep abreast of product and legislative changes

    Manage pipeline, reporting and sales governance

    • Maintain current lead, opportunity, quotation, renewal and outcome records
    • Prepare weekly and monthly reports and variance explanations
    • Track commitments and outstanding documentation
    • Protect confidential information and retain approved records

    Facilitate training and market activation

    • Identify knowledge gaps and coordinate product and process training
    • Deliver approved presentations and demonstrations
    • Support campaigns, exhibitions, launches and agricultural events
    • Capture market intelligence and feedback

    Support marketing, branding and events

    • Coordinate approved marketing materials and brand requirements
    • Support partner campaigns and product launches
    • Work with Marketing to ensure brand compliance

    Preferred Minimum Education and Experience    

    • Minimum: Relevant NQF 6 qualification in Commerce, Marketing, Insurance, Agriculture, Finance or a related field
    • RE5, where the role is required to render intermediary services
    • Eligibility for appointment as a FAIS Representative, where applicable
    • Bachelor degree in a relevant discipline
    • Recognised short-term and/or long-term insurance qualificatione
    • Insurance sales, broker consulting, business development or deal-structuring experience
    • Agricultural or commercial insurance exposure
    • Stakeholder, broker or distribution-channel management
    • Sales pipeline, forecasting and performance reporting
    • Preferred: exposure across crop, life and asset insurance

    • Extensive provincial and interprovincial travel; a valid Code B driver licence is required
    • Extended working hours during peak sales periods, campaigns and events
    • Role must operate strictly within approved mandates and delegated authority
