    Buyer – Fixed Term Contract

    In this role you will be responsible for:

    • Sourcing and Procurement: Manage the end-to-end procurement process for plant equipment, machinery, and associated materials, ensuring timely delivery, quality, and budget compliance.
    • Supplier Management: Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and evaluate supplier performance to ensure reliability, quality, and competitive pricing.
    • Technical Evaluation: Collaborate with internal teams to assess technical specifications and requirements, ensuring the correct selection of plant equipment based on performance, quality, and compliance standards.
    • Market Research: Conduct market research to identify new suppliers, technologies, and equipment innovations to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
    • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of purchases, scope of works, contracts, quotations and supplier communications. Provide regular reports on procurement activities and cost savings to senior management.
    • Continuously engage in efforts to improve on-time deliveries, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide superior service to the operations. 

    About you:

    • Grade 12 (Matric)
    • Degree or Diploma with Supply Chain Management and or Commercial procurement subjects will be advantageous
    • At least five (5) years’ experience as a Technical Buyer or in a similar procurement role within the plant equipment or related industry.
    • Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of plant equipment, machinery, and technical specifications. Familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
    • Negotiation Skills: Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
    • Analytical Mindset: Ability to analyse technical documents, specifications, and market trends to make informed purchasing decisions.
    • Project Management: Experience in managing multiple procurement projects simultaneously and working to deadlines.
    • Attention to Detail: High attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage complex purchasing processes and contracts.
    • Software Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and procurement software (e.g., SAP, Coupa) or equivalent systems.
    • Ability to work under pressure and independently without a supervisor.
