Buyer: FMCG (Northern Suburbs (Cape)) at PEP

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

To source and maintain a range of FMCG products by ensuring that the commodities are acceptable to the PEP consumer market. The products selected must contribute to the profit margin and price points of PEP in accordance with the departmental directive.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supplier management (sourcing and loading)
• Range building (Product sourcing & range development)
• Implement Buying Strategies & promotional plans
• Product order management (Administration)
• Ability to manage ranges reviews throughout the financial year 
• Research about target market and competitiveness (Nielsen as a source)

Requirements

JOB INCUMBENT REQUIREMENTS:

• Relevant Degree (e.g. Consumer Science) or Diploma (e.g. Purchasing Management)
• At least 5-7 years experience as fully fledged buyer in an FMCG environment
• FMCG buying experience essential; parallel imports experience advantageous
• Experience in Cleaning, Household, FMCG General Merchandise & Medicinal 
• Computer Literacy (Google & MS Office)
• Creative, eye for detail and analytical
• Willingness to travel
• Competencies required: Accuracy, Directing, Negotiation, Results-oriented, Persuasiveness, Commercial Drive, Initiative, Analyzing and forming opinions.
