Call For Applications: Board Of Directions Of The Joe Gqabi Economic Development Agency (JoGEDA) at Joe Gqabi District Municipality

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

• A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in one of the following areas: Agriculture, Economics, Legal, Civil engineering, Accounting, Business or Public Administration and Development Finance.

Experience in any of the following:

• local government, economic development and rural development; management experience in public or private sector; financial management experience; legal experience, especially in commercial or corporate law; property development and management experience; and understanding of the dynamics of the Joe Gqabi District.
• Professional Experience: Proven expertise of at least 5–10 years in one or more of the above fields, preferably at senior management or board level.
• Leadership and Governance: Demonstrated leadership, integrity, and experience in corporate governance and fiduciary responsibility.
• Formal board governance certification (e.g., IoDSA Chartered Director) will be an added advantage.

Applicants are not eligible for consideration if they are:

• A Councillor of any municipality;
• A person who is a member of the National Assembly for a Provincial legislature
• A person who is a permanent delegate to the National Assembly;
• A person who is an official of that parent municipal entity;
• A person who was convicted of an offence and sentenced to imprisonment without the option of a fine and a period of five years since completion of the sentence has not lapsed;
• A person who has been declared by Court to be of unsound mind; or
• A person who is a rehabilitated insolvent;
• Disqualified from serving as a director in terms of Section 69 of the
• Companies Act, 2008.
