Case Packer and Palletising Machine Operator at Nestle

Position Summary

The Case Packer and Palletising Machine Operator is responsible for packing 6 packs into cartons, date coding the cartons and palletizing the product for line 2.

A day in the life of...

Main Responsibilities:    

• Housekeeping
• Ensure all equipment stay clean at all  times.
• Ensure that the floors are clear of damaged or reject product.

Case Packer

• Ensure sufficient supply of cardboard of the correct specification.
• Ensure sufficient supply of glue and set within the correct temperature specification.
• Choose correct product selection for machines.
• Complete all settings and adjustments on the case packer to ensure good quality cases.
• eComplete all changeover requirements on the case packer.

Box Coder

• Set and clean box coder to ensure that print is correct and legible at all times.
• Inspect coded carton for correct date and code for product being packed.

Overwrapper

• Ensure sufficient plastic on both mandrels
• Ensure that the tunnel temperature is set correctly.
• Clean any excess plastic off the tunnel wire mesh conveyor
• Inspect quality of product leaving the overwrapper – quality of case, coding and overwrap.

Palletizer

• Ensure correct product selection for the different products.
• Complete all adjustments to ensure good quality (square) pallets at the exit of the pallet.
• Complete all changeover requirements on the palletizer.
• From time to time there will be a training requirement where the 
• current operator instructs a colleague in the correct performance of the entire function so that his colleague is sufficiently well coached to be an alternative operator in the event of absence.

Stretchwrapper

• Ensure that there’s sufficient film at the stretchwrapper.
• Ensure that your equipment operate efficiently so that it does not cause the filler to stop.
• Ensure that all machines operate in automatic mode. Avoid manual stop/start of machines to ensure proper operation of the automatic line control.

General

• Ensure that all machines operate in automatic mod.  Avoid manual stop/start of  machines to ensure proper operation of the automatic line control.
• Aim to meet daily production target.
• Report breakdowns, intermittent stops and other issues that lead to efficiency losses timeously.
• Complete stoppage report for your area of responsibility and fill in daily 

Shut Down

• Report to the Line Leader if there were any deviations in the line. i.e. any problems such as mechanical, electrical or instrument faults.
• Shut down the equipment as per standard procedure.   
• Tidy up working environment before end of shift.

What will make you successful

• Grade 12 with 2 years experience in operating Packaging and Palletising machine.
