Position Summary
The Pre-Weigh Operator ensures recipe control at TM ingredient weighing station by ensuring correct weight and traceability of each ingredient. To weigh the tastemaker ingredients in batches (ready for dumping in manufacturing operations) as per the standard recipe of the tastemaker
A day in the life of Pre-Weigh Operator
- Accountable for stock levels of premixed oat fibre & Iron available for mixer.
- Accountable for weighing all ingredients required for Kansui for mix operator.
- Correct labelling of all ingredients to ensure traceablilty.
- Accountable for recipe control by following the SOP of weight of TM ingredients & weigh the Tastemaker ingredients as per the Recipe following the SOP of weight timely as per planned number of batches.
- Receive the ingredients from warehouse and store them in the RM storage area as per designated space. Also accountable to follow good material handling procedure and stock management.
- Operate in line with machine safety standards ( without any bypass ) using right PPE & keeping surrounding clean to avoid any potential accident.
- Accountable for maintaining the NGMP and 5S of the area.
- Is accountable for review & improvement of the area through SHO & KO.
- Operate and Maintain parameters (Number of foreign body incidents, Traceability record compliance, FEFO compliance in line with the SOP
- Liaise with the Grameck mixing Operator for handover of the pre weighed batches and any issues in the lot numbers, quality and quantity.
- Liaise with the Supply chain department for daily material transfer request, lot numbers issues.
What will make you successful
- Minimum Grade12 or equivalent with Math’s and Science/Fitter
- 1-2 years of experience in Industry, awareness of spices

A day in the life of a Filler Operator
- Line Preparation, Change over of Filling Equipment to fill different sizes and Products
- Assist Line Fitter in setting up Filling Machines, Seamer, Capper, Labeller, Collator/Shrink wrapper, De-Palletiser as per POP for planned product & size
- Calibrate scales for size being filled
Operation of Filling & Packaging equipment
- At Start-up, ensure all machine parts are intact on Filling Machines, Seamer, Capper, Labeller, Collator/Shrink wrapper, De-Palletiser, Tote Tilts.
- Ensure that line starts up on time
- Make appropriate adjustments as per procedure to achieve nett mass and hourly outputs to achieve targets, contact Team Leader and/or HOD in case of deviation
QA Functions
- Conduct CP checks on Vibratory Feeder sieves, Tote Tilt vibrator sieves & record
- CCP control on X-Ray machines (Validate X-Ray samples)
- Net Mass Control - Check 4 cans every 10 minutes on Free Weigh and record
Data Capture – SAM, SAP
- Material declaration (GR, print SSCC labels MGTO5 and pallet recording on pallet control sheet.
- Perform SAM transactions - Capture stoppages as per occurrences with reason codes, Capture hourly/shift production outputs.
- End of Shift/Production
Other Responsibilities
- Drive Forklift
- Attend and actively participate in all MDWT meetings
- Assist in Training New Operators
- Substitute as Team Leader in his absence or when so requested
What will make you successful
- Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent and at least 2 year’s operating Filling and Packing Line.

Rework Handling
- Check the physical quantity and quality of rework received from warehouse to PSA and prepares it according to the standard operating procedure.
- Prepares the rework mixing station prior to mixing the rework as per procedure.
- Mixes the rework according to the work instruction.
- Consume the rework on SAP as per standard operating procedure.
- Records the quantity of rework mixed / absorbed in the rework absorbed book.
- Summarize the rework absorbed per product per batch number and prepares a weekly rework absorbed report and a monthly rework absorbed report.
- Carry out the rework stock count at least once a week on SAP as per procedure.
- Summarize the rework generated per product per batch number and prepares a weekly rework generated report and a monthly rework generated report.
Hygiene & Housekeeping
- Ensure that the general housekeeping of the wet area is kept it in a heighest standard
- Carry out dry cleaning, wet cleaning & controlled wet cleaning as required as per SOP
- Cleaning of the drains, cleaning tools, filters and vacuum cleaners as per SOP
Quality
- Anticipates and reacts systematically to any potential problem in the area that may affect
- Continuity of operation or quality of product in consultation with the team leader.

Safety

General

- Do the stock counts of the vitamins and minerals salts in the SBVIT as per SAP
- Do the stock counts of the oil in the SBOIL as per SAP

Main Responsibilities:
- Housekeeping
- Ensure all equipment stay clean at all times.
- Ensure that the floors are clear of damaged or reject product.
Case Packer
- Ensure sufficient supply of cardboard of the correct specification.
- Ensure sufficient supply of glue and set within the correct temperature specification.
- Choose correct product selection for machines.
- Complete all settings and adjustments on the case packer to ensure good quality cases.
- eComplete all changeover requirements on the case packer.
Box Coder
- Set and clean box coder to ensure that print is correct and legible at all times.
- Inspect coded carton for correct date and code for product being packed.
Overwrapper
- Ensure sufficient plastic on both mandrels
- Ensure that the tunnel temperature is set correctly.
- Clean any excess plastic off the tunnel wire mesh conveyor
- Inspect quality of product leaving the overwrapper – quality of case, coding and overwrap.
Palletizer
- Ensure correct product selection for the different products.
- Complete all adjustments to ensure good quality (square) pallets at the exit of the pallet.
- Complete all changeover requirements on the palletizer.
- From time to time there will be a training requirement where the
- current operator instructs a colleague in the correct performance of the entire function so that his colleague is sufficiently well coached to be an alternative operator in the event of absence.
Stretchwrapper
- Ensure that there’s sufficient film at the stretchwrapper.
- Ensure that your equipment operate efficiently so that it does not cause the filler to stop.
- Ensure that all machines operate in automatic mode. Avoid manual stop/start of machines to ensure proper operation of the automatic line control.
General

- Aim to meet daily production target.
- Report breakdowns, intermittent stops and other issues that lead to efficiency losses timeously.

- Report to the Line Leader if there were any deviations in the line. i.e. any problems such as mechanical, electrical or instrument faults.
- Shut down the equipment as per standard procedure.
- Tidy up working environment before end of shift.
