    Ensure that all underground Equipment are maintained and repaired to the prescribed standard and according to safe operating procedures, ensure maintenance records are kept, scrutinise operator’s checklists to ensure maintenance requirements are attended to. Ensure the correct stock holding of service kits, spare parts and major components, skills transfer to maintenance and operational teams, ensure workshops are designed properly to ensure that effective maintenance can be performed and to ensure safe traffic management in the workshop. Assist with setting up and implementing maintenance plans for all underground equipment. Perform root cause analysis on a component failure, perform fault finding on hydraulic and mechanical systems as required. Safe and effective maintenance and operation of all other underground equipment such as conveyor systems, pumping systems, etc.

    You will have the following:

    • Grade 12
    • Diesel Mechanic Trade Certificate

    You will have advanced skills and knowledge in:

    • 5 years as a Diesel Mechanic,
    • 5 years as a foreman on trackless mobile equipment,
    • 3 years as a GES on trackless mobile equipment.

    Your Key Performance Activities will include but not limited to: 

    Process: 

    • Inspect and prepare loads that need to be moved.
    • Ensures equipment are maintained and operated as per OEM requirements in order to achieve 85% availability. Observe maintenance and operational personnel and to identify training needs. Identify poor roadway conditions and work with Mining personnel to improve roadway conditions.
    • Ensure that stock levels of service kits, spares and critical components are maintained to allow services and breakdowns to be completed without delays. Work with stores to control major components send for repairs. Ensure that routable components are repaired and returned to the stores in a timeously manner.
    • Ensures that all personnel are following safety procedures, observe maintenance teams and operators to ensure that the equipment is maintained and operated according to safe work procedures. Assist in developing safe work procedures as required.
    • Work with project team to develop and implement an effective planned maintenance and asset care system. Ensure records are kept for all maintenance and repair activities.
    • Work with maintenance teams and perform on the job training in fault finding techniques on hydraulic and mechanical systems.
    • Identify root causes for component failures and implement measures to eliminate/reduce failures
