To conduct all activities associated with security control room operations which include the monitoring and administration of the CCTV system installed as well as conduct general security administration to ensure compliance with the maritime transport security requirements as contemplated in the International Ship and Port facility Security (ISPS) Code.
Position Outputs
Monitor and control CCTV cameras, detection and associated security systems
Regular testing and control communication medium between the control room and guards deployed in the facility
Co-ordinate security patrols within the facility
Record situation reports from all security sites/deployment areas
Relay information regarding change in security situation to Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO) or delegate
Liaise with emergency/police service control rooms during a security incident
Coordinate the implementation of instructions from PFSO, delegate and/or management
Coordinate actions of security response unit
Coordinate deployment of security personnel at the scene of an incident
Coordinate field surveillance activities within the port facility
Compile incident reports and capture security incidents on the Transnet Security Incident Management Systems (SIMA)
Maintain a security system maintenance register (to include): o Tests and calibrations of security equipment; o Condition and status of security lighting and power supplies; o Condition and status of locks to restricted areas, safes and strong rooms; Condition and status of security fencing (perimeter, facility and restricted areas) Condition and status of security boom gates and security guard houses
Maintain security registers in the control room
Issuing of security permits
Record requests for additional security measures as identified by a Declaration of Security (DOS) between the port facility and the ship
Monitor the movement of hazardous cargo within the facility
Upkeep of emergency procedures and contact details of first responders
Monitor rail RMT’s and abnormal vehicle movements inside the facility
Coordinate site inspections by security supervisors
Coordinate security related visits by Transnet/TPT management team
Liaise with port control/TNPA security control room to monitor waterside and port wide security measures and activities
Safekeeping/storage of recorded information as prescribed in the Minimum Information Security Standards (MISS) document
Preserve, extract, prepare and present evidence acquired through monitoring systems for the purpose of internal and external hearings on instruction of PFSO
Qualifications and Experience
Grade 12 NQF 4
2 years relevant experience in Port Operations/Maritime Services/Security Environment
Relevant training in CCTV operations, preferably on IP based systems
PSIRA registration (Grade C)
Computer literacy
6 – 12 months in a security control OR ROC
Grade 10 /NQF 2
3 years relevant experience relevant to the position applied for
