• BSc Chemistry (or equivalent) as a minimum

EXPERIENCE

• 3 - 5 years’ experience in an Analytical Laboratory with exposure to cement quality and production

DUTIES

• Accurate, reliable and timeous analytical results of customers samples
• Conduct accurate, reliable and timeous analytical analysis of customer’s samples
• Plan and schedule work
• Ensure all scheduled samples tested as required
• Recording of results both in the data books and on LIMS
• Operating specialized testing machines
• Assist in maintaining quality system and retaining accreditation
• Reporting any deviations or problems to the Laboratory Manager
• Ensuring maintenance and calibration schedules are followed
• Are able to purchase laboratory materials and equipment
• Ensure redundant material is discarded
• Optimize productivity
• Follow safety procedures & housekeeping
• Constructive participation in Invocoms
• Deviations investigated and reported
• Assist in improving the common performance goals of GLO
• Provide training to Chemical Testers & Analysts
• Ensure optimal functioning of analytical instruments & procedures
• Maintain ISO 17025 quality management system

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT

• Expert knowledge of XRF, XRD, ICP, AA, IC & wet chemistry techniques
• Knowledge of the theory and application of cement products
• Excellent information interpretation & reporting skills, attention to detail
• Excellent problem solving skills
• Knowledge of ISO 17025 and LIMS
• Knowledge of SHE system
