Chief Accountant at Bushveld Minerals Limited

About the role

This role is based at Bushveld Vanchem in eMalahleni. The Chief Accountant of Bushveld Vanchem will oversee all accounting activities, both financial and management accounting. The incumbent will be responsible for preparing financial and performance reports, assisting departments with annual budgets and reviews, internal control and tax studies.

Responsibilities

• Overall custodian of the financial control environment for the site as well as the overall ownership of the financial accounts.
• Perform financial analysis and reporting to management as needed.
• Management and delivery of month-end close process within group derived deadlines.
• Collaborate with other team members to complete ad-hoc tasks within deadlines.
• Generate financial reports and statements to Managers for review.
• Analyse financial discrepancies and recommend effective resolutions.
• Monitor expenditures analyse revenues and determine budget variances and report the same to management.
• Respond to accounting inquiries from management in a timely fashion.
• Provide guidance to subordinates.
• Assist in budget preparation and expense management activities for assigned accounts.
• Assist in auditing activities by providing necessary information and preparing requested documentations.
• Monitor and record financial transactions according to company policies and regulations.
• Review and recommend changes to existing accounting procedures.
• Compilation of Annual Financial Statements for assigned accounts.
• Compilation of monthly VAT returns, Bi-annual provisional tax payments and annual tax returns. (Including Mineral Royalties Taxes where applicable).
• Assisting in SARS audits/queries.

About you

• Appropriate BCom Degree
• CIMA or CA (SA) required
• At least 8 years’ experience in financial accounting and management accounting of which at least 3 years were in a manufacturing environment.
• Microsoft Office.
• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of Syspro ERP system and BI tools eg ODBC.
• Sound management accounting and financial accounting skills.
• Skilled communicator with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Good time management, with the ability to multi-task and achieve goals, deliverables and strict deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Flexible working style to align with rapid growth and on-going change.
