Job Summary

• The ability to assist in the hiring, training, supervising, scheduling, motivating, positively disciplining and planning of the activities of engineering department team members.
• The ability to assist in the employee performance reviews and process. The ability to assist in ensuring that effective and concise preventive maintenance schedules are followed.
• The ability to assist in planning and implementing procedures, systems and controls to ensure an efficient, timely and pro-active engineering department.
• The ability to directly supervise personnel in carrying out work schedules as well as spot-checking to verify quality and employee performance.
• The ability to maintain logs on movement of stock items and tools. The ability to maintain par stocks and the distribution of items.
• The ability to ensure timely and accurate sub meter, chemical treatment and engine room logs. The ability to handle the purchasing of equipment replacement parts and repairs.
• This includes contacting vendors for best prices, writing purchase orders, receiving goods and completing projects.
• The ability to ensure that work order/request system is properly executed and that items from the log book are followed up on when necessary.
• The ability to assist in developing and updating comprehensive departmental policies, procedures and manuals.
• The ability to ensure that all meter readings on Fuel, light and power are taken on a daily basis and reviewed for consumption
• The ability to assist in compiling a monthly consumption report on Fuel, light and power to include electricity, gas, steam and water.
• The ability to set-up fire life safety and protection systems, valve locations and other emergency procedures that involves the department.
• The ability to ensure effective inter-departmental communication and good relations between the engineering team members and members of fellow departments within the hotel.
• The ability to assist in compiling a report on consumable materials. The ability to document any incident or malfunction as well as obtaining third party reports.
• The ability to prepare and follow through on any projects and tasks as outlined by senior management.
• The ability to ensure all areas of the hotel are patrolled and inspected daily as well as all lighting is in good order.
• The ability to ensure all engineering team members are in complete uniform and well groomed. The ability to ensure timely completion of all assigned responsibilities. The ability to assist in developing and maintaining an energy conservation program allowing the hotel to meet its annual budget targets. The ability to prepare purchase requisitions and work orders as well as liaise efficiently with the Director of Engineering on such matters.
• The ability to ensure a clean, neat and organized work area. The ability to attend and participate in all required meetings.
