Chief Engineer (Grade A): Regional Human Settlement Support (George) Ref, No. DOI 143/2023 at Western Cape Government

Job Purpose    

• The Department of Infrastructure, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent Professional Engineer to perform and manage all aspects of varied innovative and complex engineering activities that result in progress in technology and engineering applications and provide strategic direction in the process. This post is based at the Human Settlement Office in George.

Minimum Requirements  

•  An appropriate 4 year B-Eng / BSc-Eng degree (or equivalent qualification); Must be registered with ECSA as a Professional Engineer; A minimum of six years post qualification experience required as a Registered Professional Engineer; A valid code B driving licence.

• Knowledge of applicable policies, guidelines, designs standards, best practices, procedures and legislation; National and provincial human settlements strategic goals, objectives, targets, activities; Engineering, legal and operational compliance; National Housing Code, Construction Industries Development Board (CIDB) guidelines, National Home Builders Registration Council (NHBRC) guidelines, procurement and tendering processes as well as the National Building Regulations; Public Finance Mangement Act (PFMA); Occupational Health and Safety (OCHSA); Communication (written and verbal) skills; Planning, organising and People Management skills; [Programme/ Project Management; Strategic capability, leadership and managerial skills; Proven computer literacy; Analytical thinking skills; Interpersonal skills; Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently.
