    Chief Financial Officer - Johannesburg

    GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

    • Develop and execute financial and commercial strategies to support the Africa region’s growth and profitability.
    • Lead investment and capital allocation decisions, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
    • Oversee financial stability, compliance, and risk management frameworks.
    • Drive efficiency and innovation within the Finance, Information Systems and Supply Chain operations.
    • Achievement of Financial Targets and Operational Efficiencies: Ensuring the division meets or exceeds its financial goals and operates at peak efficiency.
    • Effective Management of Financial Risks and Compliance: Maintaining robust financial risk management frameworks and ensuring strict compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
    • Successful Integration of Financial Strategies with Business Operations: Aligning financial strategies with the division’s operational activities to support sustainable growth and competitive advantage.
    • Building Strong, Collaborative Relationships: Developing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enhance the division’s strategic position and reputation.
    • Training and Development of Employees: Implementing comprehensive training and development programs for employees within the Finance, Information Systems, and Supply Chain functions. This includes fostering a culture of continuous learning, enhancing team capabilities, and ensuring succession planning to support the division's long-term objectives and adaptability to changing industry landscapes.

    Key Relationships:

    •  Copper Africa Leadership Team
    • Copper Global Functions (Assurance, Business Development, Communication, Environment and Community, Finance Systems and Supply (FSS), Health and Safety, Human Resources, Legal, Operational Excellence, Technology and Decarbonisation, Strategy, Technical Services and Major Projects)
    • Group Functions (mainly Compliance, Tax, Treasury)

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CA, CIMA or equivalent)

    WORK EXPERIENCE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Minimum of 15 years of financial management and commercial experience, with at least 5 years in a senior financial leadership role within the mining sector or a related industry
    • Extensive experience in managing financial and commercial operations, strategic planning, and reporting within complex, multinational organisations. This includes significant experience with joint venture operations, highlighting an understanding of the complexities and challenges of managing financial practices and relationships in joint ventures.
    • Proven track record in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting in a complex, global organization
    • Experience in Africa and knowledge of the mining industry, particularly in copper and cobalt, is highly desirable. This should include familiarity with the regulatory, economic, and cultural environment in the region.
    • Exceptional ability to manage, motivate, and lead teams across Finance, Information Systems, and Supply Chain functions, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented environment
    • Advanced capability to solve complex problems in dynamic and high-pressure environments, utilising strategic thinking to navigate challenges and capitalise on opportunities.
    • Proficient in constructing detailed financial models and implementing comprehensive risk management strategies to secure the division’s financial health
    • Strong ability to articulate financial and operational data to stakeholders at all levels, ensuring clarity and informed decision-making.
    • Extensive knowledge of local and international tax regulations, with the skill to manage complex tax-related issues effectively, optimising tax liabilities and ensuring compliance.
    • Proven capacity to work effectively in diverse cultural settings, understanding and respecting different perspectives while driving the division’s objectives forward.
    • Demonstrated ability to make clear, timely, and well-informed decisions under high pressure and uncertainty, reflecting an understanding of the operational and financial impacts of those decisions across the division.
