Chief Financial Officer at King Price Insurance

Purpose of position:

• Provide strategic financial leadership by driving commercial growth while protecting the financial integrity of the business. Partner closely with business leaders to shape strategy, lead complex commercial negotiations, support growth initiatives and ensure that the business is well positioned to achieve its long-term objectives. Build and maintain trusted relationships with regulators, reinsurers, business partners, investors and the board. Lead a high-performing cross-functional team and provide overall accountability of the company’s capital management, risk management and financial governance.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and actively participate in strategic commercial negotiations, including engagements with distribution partners, investors and merger & acquisition opportunities.
• Represent the company at the negotiating table, providing commercial and financial leadership to shape transaction outcomes, evaluate opportunities, structure deals, and influence key commercial terms.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key business partners, regulators and reinsurers, taking ownership of these strategic relationships and representing the business at an executive level.
• Take overall responsibility for statutory reporting and ensure IFRS 17, SAM and all other regulatory and compliance requirements are delivered accurately and on time.
• Lead the budgeting, forecasting and capital management processes across the funeral, credit life and investment-linked businesses ensuring sound financial planning and decision-making.
• Build, lead and develop a team of high performing Accountants, Actuaries, Risk and BI Specialists.
• Prepare and present financial and actuarial reporting to the board and audit committee.
• Translate complex technical information into clear practical insights that support effective decision making.
• Develop and execute the company's financial strategy in alignment with business objectives.
• Lead financial due diligence, commercial analysis, and financial modelling.
• Monitor financial performance and recommend actions to improve business outcomes.
• Oversee cash flow, liquidity, capital allocation, and investment management.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial performance and operational efficiency.
• Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting.
• Establish and maintain effective financial policies, controls, internal and external reporting standards.
• Ensure financial information supports informed decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, accounting standards, regulatory and statutory requirements and internal policies.
• Identify, assess, and manage financial risks.
• Ensure appropriate audit readiness.
• Drive continuous improvement of financial systems, processes, and reporting.
• Support the development of efficient, scalable, and sustainable financial operations.

Requirements:

• CA(SA), or a qualified Actuary (FASSA or FIA), or an equivalent financial qualification.
• Minimum of 8 years in insurance leadership – funeral credit life, or investment-linked experience strongly preferred.
• Proven working knowledge of SAM and IFRS 17.
• Demonstrated experience leading and negotiating complex commercial transactions, with direct involvement in structuring and closing deals.
• Proven experience in financial strategy, capital management, governance, and commercial finance.
• Advanced knowledge of financial management, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and capital management.
• Strong knowledge of applicable accounting standards and regulatory frameworks.
• Sound understanding of corporate governance, risk management, and financial controls.
