Job Description

• A respected consulting engineering firm is seeking a Civil Engineering Technician to join its growing team in Cape Town. This opportunity is ideal for a technically driven professional with experience in civil infrastructure design, drafting, and project coordination across municipal and private sector developments.
• The successful candidate will contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of a variety of infrastructure projects, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to produce high-quality, compliant engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare construction drawings and technical documentation for civil infrastructure projects.
• Design roads, stormwater systems, water reticulation, sewer networks, and bulk earthworks.
• Produce surface layout drawings for roads, parking areas, and development sites.
• Complete stormwater runoff calculations and drainage designs.
• Prepare access layouts and road rehabilitation designs.
• Perform cut-and-fill calculations and develop earthworks models.
• Assist with traffic engineering designs, including road signage, markings, intersections, and traffic signal layouts.
• Conduct site investigations, inspections, and technical assessments.
• Compile engineering reports and technical documentation.
• Liaise with engineers, architects, planners, contractors, and municipal authorities.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable standards and municipal requirements.
• Support project delivery from concept through construction.

Minimum Requirements

• Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 3–5 years' experience in civil engineering design and drafting.
• Experience working on municipal infrastructure and land development projects.
• Strong knowledge of civil engineering standards and design principles.
• Valid driver's licence.
